100 GECS IS AN AMERICAN MUSIC DUO CONSISTING OF DYLAN BRADY AND LAURA LES. THEIR FIRST RELEASE WAS THEIR SELF-TITLED EP IN 2016. THEIR FIRST ALBUM "1000 gecs" FOLLOWED A FEW YEARS LATER IN 2019 AND IMMEDIATELY BLEW UP IN POPULARITY AMONG 14 YEAR OLDS WHO DRINK MONSTER.

100 GECS' FIRST ALBUM IS CONSIDERED A DEFINITIVE EXAMPLE OF THE HYPERPOP GENRE, BUT THEIR MUSIC IS OFTEN WELL-BEYOND THE CONSTRAINTS OF ANY SINGLE GENRE OR STYLE, BLENDING INFLUENCES FROM SKA TO NU-METAL.

THE DUO ARE MEMBERS OF A SPACE RACE CALLED "GECS" FROM THE PLANET GECULON 9001. THE GECULONIAN SPACECRAFT THAT BROUGHT THEM TO OUR PLANET TRAGICALLY EXPLODED IN EARTH'S ATMOSPHERE, KILLING 100 PASSENGERS AND LEAVING THEM AS THE SOLE SURVIVORS. I started listening to 100 gecs in summer of 2020. I didn't really like them at first, honestly, but I kept listening until it got to a point where I couldn't stop. I had their discography on repeat constantly for about a week straight. It was 2020 and I was a young teenager so I had nothing better to do than to listen to music on my laptop while playing browser games and rotting in my bedroom. Even though 2020 doesn't feel so long ago to me their earlier music is still so incredibly nostalgic when I hear it. Of course I also went through a lot of crazy personal drama while I was at the height of my listening to them and I started associating their songs and lyrics with things that I felt at the time LOL, so they're bittersweet in a way. At this point I've been to 2 of their shows (they were my first concert!) and they've been my top artist almost every year since 2020.
